Pilates
Introducing…Pilates to Kula!
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a form of movement to improve concentration, coordination, control, and breathing.
Originally called “contrology” by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, used primarily by dancers to improve both flexibility, strength, and recover from injury, it is now practiced athletes and others to improve the strength of their core, spine, and overall health
Pilates has many similarities to yoga, for example, movements are connected to breath, and there is a focus on centering the mind, alignment, as well as a strong focus on spinal health. It is also unique in many ways, which we can explore together! Pilates has now developed into two main streams: classical and contemporary.
In this first series of 4 pop-up classes, we will be exploring the classical movements, with some contemporary influences.
